Laboratory Capability

Our Spectrochemical Laboratory is the foundation of the Quality Control Department. The major analytical instruments within the laboratory include:

· Two Labtest Model 310 Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES)

· One ARL Model 2600 Spectrograph

· One Perkin Elmer Model 370 Flame Atomic Absorption (FAA) Spectrophotometer.

The two Labtest OES Spectrometers are the primary instruments for routine rapid analysis of production batches. The ARL Spectrograph and the Perkin Elmer FAA Spectrophotometer are utilized for research and unique analysis needs. These instruments are augmented with relevant support equipment and supplies.

The following table lists the analytical capabilities of our Labtest OES Spectrometers. The first column lists the elements in alphabetical order. The second and third columns contain the analytical ranges (in percent by weight) these instruments are capable of. The fourth column lists the alloy bases(s) that certified standards are maintained, as appropriate to our current alloy production.
